Location: Hill Brow, Hove, Brighton & Hove, East Sussex
Work carried out: Survey leading to whole house remodelling and extensions including negotiations with Planners.
Project description:
Built in 1960 and set in amongst properties of the same period but of differing styles, this property was a two/ three bedroom bungalow sitting over a garage due to the steeply sloping site. The property has been largely unaltered other than the replacement of doors and windows.
The clients bought the property to enlarge it with a new First Floor and to create a dramatic contemporary home. We used a stepped profile to soften the impact on the adjacent properties the design included an enlarged front decked terrace, balcony and rear patio landscaped spaces. ‘Unlocking’ the panoramic view to the coast by forming a suitable vantage point on a First Floor terrace was also important. The materials chosen were slate and white render with charcoal coloured windows and doors, slate slabbed terrace and steps. It was finished to a high specification.
