Contemporary Urban Flat Living

Nov 1, 2013

Location: 7-Dials, Brighton & Hove, East Sussex

Work carried out: Reconfigured Kitchen and Bathroom and whole flat refurbishment

Project description: The flat is located on the top floor of a set of Grade 2 Listed Late Victorian buildings near Brighton Station. There is a great view of Central Brighton from the Kitchen window, but the access was very compromised by the location of the adjacent Bathroom. The Kitchen felt out on a limb.

After consideration of a larger scheme to convert the roof space to a Bedroom and En-Suite, the decision was taken to focus on the existing spaces and to leave the roof for a later date and the right timing for the Client.

The Kitchen and Bathroom were reconfigured so that the view to the Kitchen would be much more open from the stair (except in the event of a fire) on arrival and enticing. The Kitchen was re-fitted with stylish and space efficient units and new décor. The Bathroom too to make the most of a small space

The Client loves outdoor pursuits and storing her mountain bike was a big consideration as it could not be left in the communal areas. An overhead winched system solved the problem.

A professional, friendly company who I would have no hesitation in recommending. They developed my initial thoughts, made amazing suggestions that have made my home fit in with my lifestyle. My flat is now light & airy, reinstalled with the original features whilst modernising it and adding great storage. I now adore walking in through the front door. A huge thank you DK Architects.
