Contemporary urban living in affordable luxury

May 15, 2019

Location: Lancing, West Sussex

Work carried-out: We were initially involved to cover the Building Regulations technical studies for our Developer clients, but we had to cover some conditions in the Planning Permission.

Project description: Luxor Court was built in 1939 and opened in 1940 as a 988 seater cinema.  After some years as a Bingo Hall, it was abandoned in the 2003 and had been derelict ever since. There was a long Planning history with the building before Machin Investments (http://www.machininvestments.co.uk/) bought it in late 2017 and obtained Planning Permission in 2018.

The technical issues for the project were challenging and involved negotiation with the Southern Water.

Work on site began in July 2018 to convert over 10,000ft² into 12 luxury apartments (1 no. 3 bed, 8 no. 1 bed and 3 no. studio flats) and retail units.   The location in the centre of Lancing made it imperative to keep the façade and landmark feel of the building.
