Location: Iford, near Lewes, East Sussex
Work carried out: Incorporation and reconfiguring of internal spaces and extensive refurbishment and modernisation.
Project description:
Originally it was a group of three Grade 2* Listed agricultural workers cottages in this hamlet. Over time, two had been connected and subsequently the third was acquired by the owners. The group was to be linked together differently to enable the extra cottage and the middle one to function as the core of a family home and the residual cottage to be an annexe primarily for letting to musicians from nearby Glyndebourne Opera House. It all needed to be done with a delicate and sympathetic touch so as not to destroy the special charm and character of the group both externally and internally.
